Today's episode looks at the ugly side of conventional beauty products.  We open the lid on the shampoos, lotions and scents we spend our lives bathed in.  We'll hear from Amber Freidman, creatress of 'Solar Infused Beauty'. She shares her conversion from off the shelf products to making her own at home.  We also sit in on part of a Zero Waste Beauty workshop offered in Hawaii by Chantelle Okel. She teaches about making things that are good for our skin from items found in most people's kitchen.  Chantelle's guiding mantra?  If you can't eat it, don't wear it!

This episode features all vinyl that I recently bought at 2nd hand stores. A good mix of Rock'n'roll, Hawiian, Bossa Nova Jazz & Calypso.

This is a reproduction of Frequency Downshifting from June 13 2018. There was a technical difficulty and the live broadcast was not captured. I recorded this version at home with my record player and laptop.

For the show I played all vinyl that I bought at one of Powell Rivers great second hand stores. I found some great Hawiian and South Pacific records. A classic surf-rock album from the tornados. Plus a supposidly rare album from a Vancouver guitar player, Gerry Fiander. Plus some great country western albums, Exotic big band infused with sounds of the orient, a Carnival Limbo record and a really great folk-rock album from Quebec band Harmonium.
