The episode in which DJ Rabideye subs for the absent BK. Make sure your dancing shoes are ON!
Guests galore!! I am joined by not one, not two, but THREE in-studio guests tonight!
First up is Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons for this week's What's Up Down in Victoria segment, and we chat about the Agricultural Land Reserve, Drive ABLE, and more.
Next in the hot seat is local musician Trevor Refix whose band Texture & Light have just released their debut self-titled album. The first single off the album, A Quiet Place, just debuted at #1 in CBC Radio 3's R3-30 list, the top 30 independent Canadian music tracks for the week of November 8!
And speaking of our national broadcaster, CBC Radio 3's very own Grant Lawrence is also in the house! He's in town launching his latest book 'The Lonely End of the Rink' so we talk about that and, of course, Rob Ford.
PLUS! Music from Joni Mitchell (happy 70th birthday Joni!), Les Rita Mitsuoko, Hank 'n Lily, AroarA, Said the Whale, and more.
Yup, it's a gooder this week friends :)
Despite my threats of a visit from Budokan, this week features NO guests whatsoever. But lots of great music and all the events you need to know to get through the weekend and beyond here in the coastal town they could not close down.
I am joined in the studio by Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons for this week's episode of "What's Up Down in Victoria" and then by Carolina Pena Navarro for an update of last weekend's Quintessence Breast Feeding Challenge.
Plus, great music from Budokan, Little Pharmer & the Ditch Prescription, Hank 'n Lily, Ladyhawk, Japandroids, The Shins and more.
No guests tonight! But tons of great music from the likes of Beirut, Talking Heads, Propellerheads, Money Mark, Kid Koala & Tom Waits.
And, of course, all the events you need to know about here in the Powell Riviera, the coastal town they could NOT close down!
Cousin Awd skypes in from Toronto as does Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons with a report on the recent decision by PR Regional District to support expanded coal handling on Texada Island.
Plus mucho musico from the likes of Elvis Costello, Benjamin Gibbard, Lloyd Cole & the Commotions, Belle & Sebastian, Grinderman and more.
Bad Karen is back! An it's guests galore tonight: Paddy Treavor, President of CAMRA Powell River (The Campaign for Real Ale) pops in to talk about how you can get involved in reforming liquor laws in the province; Bill Hopkins (aka Mr. Powell River) pops in to talk about the Cops for Cancer fundraiser dinner; and Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons is in-studio for an update on 'What's Up Down in Victoria'
Plus great music from some of the bands that I saw last week at Rifflandia: Peace, Needles//Pins, The Ballantynes, Death From Above 1979, Mounties and more.
Bad Karen is away, so Mr. Parkinson & DJ Rabideye are at the controls. Chaos, naturally, ensues.
The episode in which Bad Karen triumphs over the technical adversities she has experienced over the past few weeks! It's full of great music from The Shins, Karen O, Metric, The Magnetic Fields, She Keeps Bees, and more. And yes, that is actually the Jackson 5!
Plus, special impromptu guest Trevor Wilson of The A Club drops in to chat about the Edmonton Folk Fest in the second hour.
And BK gets wise to the whole animated gif thing.
Tune it in and turn it UP!
Peanut joins BK in the studio today but doesn't say much. Nicholas Simons is MIA for this week so also doesn't say much. BK has iTunes problems - AGAIN - and is flustered for the opening of the show but gets it together in the end.
All the events you need to know about plus great music from New Pornographers, Elvis Costello, Junkie XL, Peaches and more.
A show full of impromptu interviews and music for this year's soggy Blackberry Street Party. Captain Underpants pops in for some impromptu poetry (would that be improetry?) and the good folks from High Society pop in to chat about their Blackberry Street Party After Party gig at the French Club (which was excellent FYI!).
Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons also pops in around 6pm mark to talk about upcoming meetings regarding increased coal traffic on Texada Island.
Plus, of course, lots of great music from The Concretes, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, Slim Milkie, and more!
Technical difficulties but our heroine, Bad Karen, prevails.
Today's show features an interview with singer Wanda Nowicki who will be performing with Walter Martella Saturday night at the Hub.
Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons is absent so no 'What's Up Down in Victoria' this week, but still all the events you need to know about plus great music from the aforementioned Wanda Nowicki, Rich Hope & His Evildoers, Tegan & Sara, Kid Koala, King Khan & the Shrines and more.

Plus, as usual, great music from the likes of The White Stripes, Kid Koala, Kathryn Calder, Joy Division, Nouvelle Vague, Neko Case, The Stone Roses and The Stranglers.
