This week, Powell River City Council votes to recommend excluding 30 acres from the Agricultural Land Reserve. Councillor CaroleAnn Leishman will be on to explain more about that decision. 

Ioni Wais vistited the Tla'amin Language Circle to learn about and speak the Coast Salish language with elders from the Tla'amin community. Listen for that report. 

Then Sam Sansalone comes on to answer common questions in the fishing world.

We end the show with voices from Powell River Dreams and their dreams for the future.

Friday May 27th and Saturday 28th was a public art event known as Powell River Dreams, taking place in the Jean Pike Center here in Powell River, a building which has come to be known as The Arc, one of Powell River’s newest venues

In this show, we put the lens on affordable housing in Powell River. We talked with Kathleen O’Neill, who runs a program called Housing Hope. She talks about the face of rural homelessness in Powell River. Then Murray Dobbin and Nicholas Simons discuss the end of the legislative session and issues that are on the table, including housing, as well as the Site C dam. Ioni Wais talks to a diverse range of people about their current living situations. 

We also talked to Autumn Skye Morrison and Blake Drezet of Powell River Dreams, which opens Friday, May 27

Thanks to Russell Brewer and Devin Pielle for their live interviews. Russell answered call-in questions about a range of topics in the news right now (13:00). Devin talked about her recent involvement with the Idea Book, as part of the Indigenous Youth Advisory Circle (45:00). 

Ioni Wais put together a feature on the committee of the whole meeting, May 17th, and specifically on the intention of Powell River city council to move ahead on regulating cannabis dispensaries in the city (8:00).
