Iquitos, the capital of the Peruvian Amazon, with an urban density of around a million people, is the largest isolated city in the world, reachable only by boat or plane and surrounded by the vastness of the rainforest. Coronavirus spread through the region- a region already plagued by lack of basic healthcare, corrupt authorities and a recent outburst of dengue fever- placing enormous pressure on its metropolitan capital as well as its surrounding areas. Tonight's live broadcast of "Rhythm & Flavour/Ritmo y Sabor" is dedicated to and inspired by the music of this region as well as Brazil and many neighbouring countries who are also struggling.
